It’s summertime, which means fun, pool parties and barbeques. July Fourth is a time for all of these things, while celebrating American freedom with friends and family.
You may want to host an Independence Day party but worry that it might get too expensive. The truth is, Fourth of July parties don’t have to be. Here are three ways to celebrate this year while being financially conscious.
Find a public fireworks show
So many towns and cities across America hold their own large scale fireworks shows. Instead of buying your own, go to one of the many public venues scattered around the city to watch them. For example, in our hometown of Coral Gables, the historic Biltmore Hotel is hosting a free fireworks show on their golf course for anyone to attend. So, grab your picnic blankets, lawn chairs and coolers and spend an evening with your family under the the fireworks. Here are some helpful links for free firework shows in our communities: South Florida, Houston, TX, Tampa, FL.
Host a potluck
Having a party with your friends and family can get expensive, especially if you’re buying food and drinks for everyone attending. Instead of buying it all yourself, suggest a potluck to your guests so everyone brings one or two food or drink items. An added benefit to this is that everyone can bring things that they like, which also accounts for any dietary restrictions. If you need some inspiration, there are plenty of recipes available online!
Go to a block party
Some events you might find are ticketed, like block parties with local vendors, but what’s nice about those is you can find them for an inexpensive ticket price that includes all you can eat and drink vendors. These kinds of events are great because you can experience some live music, have good food, meet new people and support local businesses.
Happy Fourth of July from all of us at Amerant!
